Yummy authentic Mexican Cuisine. Looks are deceiving at this taco shack drive thru. I ordered the Taco Dorados, so crunchy and flavorful, comes with red beans and rice for 3.99, huge portions. Also tried the tamales, carne asada taco with fresh onions and cilantro and the chips and dip, which tasted homemade. My boyfriend had the chicken tacos, on soft flour tortillas and the bean and beef burrito. Every time I visit Taco Viva I am pleasantly surprised with the low prices, quality of food, and friendly staff. If you are in a hurry, do not order any specialty items as their good food takes time!

Best tacos. Best tamales. Best gyros. Best French fries. Such great prices. Everything is authentic. Anything you order is good. Try the baklava for desert ~ it's homemade and mouthwatering. The owner is extremely friendly and the staff is polite. Come as you are! This place is truly a great locals spot. They even do breakfast and they do have a kids menu. It's small, but don't let the size fool you... this place is awesome.

Seems more authentic then most places. The food is decent. They did mess up my order but I didn't bother to go back. Got the 8 dollar burrito and friend got the tacos. I wish I would have got the tacos over the burrito. It was mostly rice. It was good though. I would come back again however I would get a bunch of different tacos over one big one.

Dirt cheap tacos, pretty good though. I had the ceviche and fish tacos (fried), it was very decent. They open late (it was past 11pm), I can't believe they had Fox News playing on the tv, it actually ruined my experience, what's with business running this garbage on TV? Play 'Dora the explorer', anything but Fox News!

I love this little place. Quick and delicious alternative to fast food, with prices that can't be beat. I've tried most of the tacos, the original ground is the best, as is the beef & bean burritos. Excellent fresh chips, salsa and guacamole.

As the owner says. "It's made with love" and I love Taco Viva. Everything is freshly made delicious and very affordable.

Found this place on the way up to Ft. Myer's one day. Love my hole in the wall mexican places and this place had a drive-thru which was a plus. Tacos were pretty darn good, the shrimp was definiely my favorite. They even offered greek items (I guess it it's good, then it works). Don't be scared of the place, good food, good prices.

  • Diane M.

"Most" of the food is OK ... I prefer to skip the plate and get right down to business with the tacos.

  • Nick D.

The food is about the same as the last time I was here. Not bad. Perhaps a little too much McCormick taco seasoning in the beef, but not bad. Why two stars this time? The place is just really dirty. They obviously aren't trying to keep the place up at all. Where are the napkins? Oh, they're in a bin around the corner where the customers aren't supposed to go into. Sauce? They have a couple of bottles around. Once they think you're done... zip! They yank it off your table and give it to someone else. No questions asked. What a strange little place.

Awesome! Finally authentic Mexican food in Ft Myers. Not a glamorous building but the food far makes up for it. Very very affordable, great deal! Fresh ingredients and homemade recipes make every dish a winner. Have been many times and can't wait to go back!

I passed this place dozens of times going to and from work. I finally decided to stop late one night at 11pm since their open sign was still lit. Walked in and ask the guy behind the counter who seemed like either the owner or manager if they were still open, he said they were about to close but if I wanted something easy they could make it. I ordered (8) beef and cheese hard shell tacos to go. He even threw in some sauce, both hot and mild, for free. My wife and I both enjoyed the tacos and for $8, you can't beat the price! I will most definitely go back, I want to try their beef barbacoa.

For those who don't really have an idea about good Mexican food, you need to try Taco Viva. I keep telling my friends, family and everyone else that will listen that great Mexican food is made in (Thank you Guy Fieri) diners, drive-ins and dives! Not in chains or fancy restaurants where on taco costs you $5. You know who you are! Taco Viva is down home goodness specializing in the traditional dishes of Mexican food that we have grown accustomed to. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. They are all good! They even make gyros! Wow! It's pretty good also. The price is so right on and the food tastes great. I would recommend pretty much everything. The service is fantastic and friendly. The restaurant could use a good cleaning and paint job but it's still clean. The plice deserves 5 stars and your business! Go and try it out! Later.

This is my new favorite place to go for quick and delicious and REAL food in Fort Myers. The chef was even nice enough to take me back to the kitchen and show me the carnita meat simmering with huge chunks of oranges. Yum! The Mango and Watermelon juice are unbelievable and every bit of food I've had there (Gyro's too!) has been fantastic. GO TRY IT TODAY!

The food is AWESOME. My favorite is the guacamole with chips.

I stop at this place every time I'm in Ft Myers. Best fast food taco place I have found. Beats the hell out of Taco Bell hands down. My favorite is their steak and onion burrito. The salsa is great too.

Taco Viva is AMAZING. I used to be an FGCU student, and while I was in school, I practically lived there. Its a somewhat unassuming place visually, which I feel may turn away a lot of new diners, but really, it's what's on the inside that counts. The prices are phenomenal. Being a poor college student, my daily food stipend didnt cover too much beyond ramen. Fortunately, thanks to taco viva's prices I was able to fit some of their delicious food in fairly regularly. I was able to spend less than five dollars and leave happy. Their tacos are authentic mexican style; just a little cilantro and onions atop fantastic home made meats. i particularly enjoyed their fish tacos. For that type of money, its hard to get a good fish taco that is edible, but these were delicious! Fresh out of the fryer, drizzled with a tasty sauce. Im salivating just thinking about them. This place was my first introduction to home made horchata, which was great, and also my all time favorite mexican food, mole. I feel like the chefs here brought in their own recipes as I have yet to find anything close to this authentic in southwest Florida since. I'll cut this short as I'm making myself hungry for something thats 2000 miles away, but I would highly suggest taco viva to anyone, particularly FGCU students. Its a true gem.

I have been driving by this place for over a year after reading other reviews I finally stopped here today. I had an assortment of tacos everything was really good and very inexpensive. I can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu

Absolutely love the crunchy beef tacos here!!! Their enchiladas are perfect!!! The tamales are divine!!! That's all we have tried so far! I love that they have a drive through! You still have to wait a bit for your food because it's made fresh and to order! When I order tacos I have to eat one in the parking lot before I go home because I just can't wait! The beef is perfectly seasoned with just the right kick! These are some of the best tacos I have ever had! As much as I would love to have a Gyro which oddly, they have on their menu, I am not sure that I want to take the leap!! Also this place is very divey! This is a huge part of the appeal!!! The service is very friendly!! I have gone out of my way to bring food home from this establishment more than once!!!

Please support this great institution of a mom and pop owned business. The tacos are outstanding. Best value. Way better than a franchise. I've been going there for years.

Typical little taco stand spot, I'd say the foods pretty authentic style. Tacos are only $1. Cant beat that. Definitely try the verde sauce with your meal. I eat here every so often, located right in san carlos.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
